The historic town of Dimitsana is located 207 km away from Athens, appr. 2 ½  hours by car. Known as early as the tenth century, built on the archaiaTefthida, Dimitsana is spread amphitheatrically over the gorge of river Lucius and constitutes a living museum of Byzantine art, folklore and architecture natural beauty.

Stone buildings, downhill paved streets, bridges of the watermills, old monasteries with a rich collection of Byzantine ecclesiastical and holy relics, a library with rare manuscripts and codices, the gunpowder mills, the Water Power Museum, archaeological and ethnographic collections are just some examples that make Dimitsana fascinating for the visitor.

What to see?

Be sure to visit the ruins of the ancient Acropolis of Tefthidos, the Ecclesiastical Museum, the Public Library of the Faculty of Dimitsana which contains rare manuscripts, codes of churches and temples, two collections with archaeological and folklore. Dimitsana is famous for its traditional products such as sweets, honey and fine local wines.
