The picturesque historic village of Alonistaina is located in the beautiful valley of ancient Elissontos, surrounded by the forest of Mainalo. This is one of the most beautiful villages of Arcadia, crossed by a river, with water mills built on its sides. The serenity and beauty of the area attract many visitors.

Alonistaina is an ideal starting point for numerous short and long trips in the region, because of its location in the heart of Mainalo. Starting from the village you can ascend by car to the ski resort of Mainalo and from there to reach the village Kardaras and continue for Levidi and Vytina.

Alternatively, you can head to Arkoudorema and Libovisi, where it’s worth a stop at the home of Kolokotronis.

From there you can reach the beautiful village Elati. Another enjoyable trip is to the villages Davia and Roino.

In the central square of Alonistaina is located the church of Agia Paraskevi, built in 1742 that is of particular architectural interest. Next to the church of Agia Paraskevi is the tomb of the mother of Theodoros Kolokotronis, Zambia Kotsaki.

Alonistaina is famous for its fir honey, known as vanilla of Mainalos with a characteristic amber color. Other traditional products are herbs, traditional pasta, sausages, meats. In the taverns you will taste delicious lamb, kokoretsi and high quality cured meat.
